Specialized Care for Different Types of Hernias

Inguinal Hernia

Among the various types of hernias, inguinal hernias are the most commonly encountered. While they can affect both men and women, they are more frequently seen in males. Surprisingly, approximately 1 in 4 males will experience an inguinal hernia at some point in their lives. The natural weakness in the groin area, resulting from the descent of the testicle from the abdomen into the scrotum, predisposes males to inguinal hernias.

To minimize post-operative pain and reduce the risk of chronic pain, I utilize a tackless technique for laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair.

Haital Hernia

Hiatal hernias typically develop later in life and present with a range of symptoms. These symptoms may include heartburn, nausea, vomiting, regurgitation, abdominal pain, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, bloating, belching, or coughing. The term 'hiatal' is derived from 'hiatus,' which refers to an opening, specifically the esophageal hiatus.

Umbilical Hernia

Umbilical hernias are among the most commonly encountered hernias. They occur naturally and can affect individuals of all age groups, from infants to the elderly. These hernias develop at the site of the navel, also known as the umbilicus, which acts as a natural weak spot in the abdominal wall due to the passage of the umbilical cord.

Umbilical hernias typically present as painless bulges at the navel, which may increase in size and become more painful over time. They tend to cause more symptoms during physical activity or prolonged standing, emphasizing the need for an experienced hernia surgeon for successful treatment.

Stephanie Mageski

"Dr. Darrabie performed a gallbladder removal surgery on me, and my whole experience was amazing. He explained to me with all the details how the surgery would be, made me feel very comfortable and cared. I was in a lot of pain, him and his whole staff were very helpful in the whole process. The say of my surgery he met me minutes before going under, I even asked for a picture of my gallstones and he did it. I'm just grateful for him and glad I chose him to take care of me. "
